Biography
Salvatore Amadeo Rodino, known to many as “Sam,” is a native of Troy, NY. He graduated from LaSalle Institute in 1969, Siena College in 1973, and from St. Bernard’s Seminary in Rochester in 1980.
Prior to attending the seminary, he taught as a lay faculty member at Catholic Central High School in Troy. He also worked as a substitute teacher at St. Gregory’s School in Loudonville.
His parish assignments have included St. Jude the Apostle in Wynantskil (pastor from 2005 until his removal from ministry in October, 2009), St. Bonaventure in Speigletown (pastor from 1990- 2005), St. Pius X in Loudonville, and St. Margaret Mary’s in Albany.
In addition to parish work, Rodino taught at several Catholic high schools. In addition to Catholic Central, he taught at St. Patrick’s in Catskill and Bishop Maginn High School in Albany.
From 1987 until 2005, Rodino was Chaplain and religion teacher at LaSalle Institute in Troy. At LaSalle, Rodino replaced Franciscan priest Frank Genevieve as Chaplain – Genevieve has subsequently pleaded guilty to five counts of statutory rape (of two teenage boys).
