On October 24, 2009, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany announced it had placed then-Father Salvatore A. Rodino (also known as “Sam” Rodino) on administrative leave following an investigation that found reasonable grounds to believe he sexually abused a minor 27-years ago. On Tuesday, October 27, a Diocese spokesperson announced that sometime in the 1990s, the Diocese received a complaint accusing then-Fr. Rodino of sexual abuse, though at the time there was not enough evidence to remove him from ministry.
Since the announcement of now-Mr. Rodino’s removal from the active ministry, there has been an outpouring of support for him by his former parishioners at St. Jude the Apostle, where he served as pastor since 2005.
Many of those that expressed support for Mr. Rodino have also launched virulent, mean spirited, and un-Christian insults at his accuser (who has chosen to remain anonymous).
This site exists for the following purpose:
1. To serve as a place to express support for Mr. Rodino’s accusor;
2. To encourage other victims of Mr. Rodino’s to report their abuse;
3. To serve as a repository for all news articles involving allegations of sexual abuse against Mr. Rodino; and
4. To serve as a forum where the public can comment on the situation in a intelligent, reasoned – and most importantly – respectful manner.
Visitors to RodinosVictims.com are welcome and encouraged to comment on any blog post or news item. We ask only that your comments be respectful of the rights of all victims of clergy sexual abuse, and of Mr. Rodino’s victims in particular. Comments in support of Mr. Rodino are welcome. However, any comment that is demeaning, insulting, or accusatory of victims of sexual abuse will be deleted.
